Miniaturized Vaporizers have been the trend in 2019, many new companies as well as older companies tossed their engineering hats into the ring releasing small portable vaporizers. I’ve had the opportunity to test several of these new breeds of vapes including the Davinci Miqro which is a premium product in the portable vaporizer market.
The folks at Vapium an innovative vaporizer company out of Toronto pride themselves on the development of medical grade portable dry herb units which provide users with an affordable portable, discreet vaporizer for micro dosing just about anywhere. When I say affordable, I mean it, the Vapium Lite which I’m reviewing costs just $79 USD.
Current Market Place Condition
With the legalization of cannabis in more countries and states picking up steam more people are smoking and pushing the market for new ways to consume cannabis easily and discreetly. The portable vaporizer market took off thanks to the success of early adopters such as Davinci and Storz and Bickel who made the first quality usable vaporizers. Since then every sort of portable vaporizer that can be imagined has hit the market. Most of these new products are poor quality, made with low quality parts and tend not to work very well or for very long.
Great Price Point
Until recently you would need to spend $200 plus to get a decent vaporizer but with the release of the Vapium Lite you can now get your hands on a quality built portable vaporizer for just $79 USD. I was skeptical at first, I’ve had a lot of bad quality vaporizers sent to me for reviews this year and most I couldn’t be bothered to review because they were so poorly made, or they produced very little vapor.
Our First Look at the Vapium Lite
You won’t find a lot of fancy features on the Lite unit such as “vapor paths” or special heating routines but what you will find is a very simple to use unit that works, plain and simple. On the front of the unit you’ll find all the controls needed to operate the device. The Lite has 4 main heating temperatures and 4 half step temperature settings for those who are very specific about their settings. I preferred to use the Lite on full power to get extra strong hits. From cold the Lite takes just 40 seconds to reach maximum temperature and then you are ready to go. The device works just fine at lower temperatures and has a longer battery life.
The Lite Got Me Blasted
I generally needed to smoke two sessions off the lite to get totally blasted which finished off one bowl completely. The bowl was full and slightly tamped down to start. Since the light uses a ceramic conduction source your cannabis must make good contact with the walls of the conduction basket.
The Lite has a built-in stir stick in the bottom of the unit. This stick is great for loosening cooked cannabis and for tamping down fresh cannabis. I found that when smoking two sessions on the vaporizer that I didn’t need to stir the bowl to cook all the plant mater, the ceramic seems to be able to heat the cannabis chamber all the way through.
Battery Life
The Vapium Lite uses a mAh 18500 lithium Ion battery so you can use a normal USB C charger for the device though a charge is included. A full charge can be completed in just one hour and my operating time on full power was about 6 sessions or 20 minutes.
Loading the Vapium Lite
To fill the Lite use well ground cannabis only. To insert the cannabis just remove the mouthpiece of the unit to expose the ceramic heating chamber. The chamber is nice and deep but does need to be packed down at least slightly so that your cannabis is pushed against all sides of the chamber. Use the mixing/tamper that you will find inserted into the bottom of the unit. One down side to the Lite is that the top of the unit is flat making it harder to get all the cannabis material into the chamber. To avoid this, I used a rolled-up piece of paper so I could easily poor in my cannabis.
Once the unit is filled just snap the mouth-piece back onto the unit and press on to start for three seconds to start heating. The Lite comes with two different mouth pieces, the main option is small and discreet, the second option has a larger spout which allows you to adapt it to glass or tube.
Adjust the heat with the plus and minus buttons on the side of the unit to set the wanted temperature and then wait about 40 seconds, you’ll see the light become solid when the unit reaches heat.
Do I Vibe the Vapium Light?
I must admit that I’ve been disappointed many times with new portable vaporizers in the past, so I wasn’t expecting much from the Lite. Vapium did a very good job engineering this product from ease of use to its cheap price point. I found the Lite to be very usable unlike many portables that are small enough but that don’t perform. This unit gets the job done very well and for a low price.
For $79.00 USD you just can’t get a better portable vaporizer then the Vapium Lite.
