Leslie Bocksor is one of the most impressive people I have ever met. And I’m not saying that just because he has the raddest facial hair of all time. I’m saying that because he truly cares about social justice, and about helping others succeed in the cannabis industry. That’s a rare combination in the marijuana world. A lot of people are out to just line their pockets, and don’t care how many people they step on in the process (I’ll be writing an article on that topic soon).
Leslie has an impressive resume, although admittedly, I’m still learning all of what all he does! But what I have learned so far is stellar. I think a lot of people think of Leslie as an investor, but based off of what I have researched and read, it sounds like he actually builds cannabis business platforms to help cannabis businesses succeed. I don’t have direct discussions with people about investing for various reasons, so I could be off a bit on my knowledge of Leslie from a business perspective, but it seems that he serves more as a mentor to people in the cannabis industry, which is something that is desperately needed in this growing industry. So many people just want to take advantage of others, rather than trying to build them up. I know that’s been my experience, and I know that I’m not alone.
I’m not as familiar with his work prior to coming to the cannabis industry, but I know there are a lot of companies out there that have received his help and have benefited greatly as a result. A quick Google search will hammer that point home. The skill set and knowledge that he brings to the table is far more valuable than any investment, at least in my opinion. Leslie was recently announced as ArcView’s ‘Most Valuable Member of the Year.’ Below is a press release that I received from Arcview about the announcement. Congratulations Leslie!:
Leslie Bocskor, CEO of Electrum Partners, a powerful group of experienced business, finance and regulatory policy advisors serving the legal cannabis industry, was named this year’s “Outstanding Investor Member” by the ArcView Group at its Investor Forum held in Las Vegas, November, 2015. Having spent the last twenty years in investment banking and corporate finance and his most recent years creating cannabis business platforms, Leslie has become a vanguard evangelizing the importance of bringing best practices, responsible approaches and values-based commerce to the fastest growing industry in the United States. Mr. Bocskor takes great pride in spending time working with and mentoring entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry and is hailed throughout the industry as a beacon for young companies and investors seeking the best and brightest talent.
“Leslie brings so much valuable insight and generosity to his relationships with entrepreneurs and investors. He has been the mentor to more companies that won best pitch than anyone else. He was the obvious choice for this award,” said Troy Dayton, CEO of The ArcView Group.
“ArcView is easily the single most influential institution for investing in and developing the business of the legal cannabis industry and I’m honored to be among its honored members and to receive such recognition. I continue to be excited about working with ArcView leadership and to mentor companies that form the underpinnings of evolution and expansion of cannabis business, commented Bocskor.
“Never underestimate the value of the right mentor. Thank you Leslie – you’ve helped transform our presentations from good to great and your continued mentorship is invaluable. I encourage entrepreneurs that have the good fortune to work with Leslie Bocskor to listen to his wise and pointed insights,” said Seibo Shen, CEO of VapeXhale.
