As you may recall from our post last week, this week marks the first Weed Week event in the city of Portland. Weed Week is 5 days of networking, programming, and social gatherings for the cannabis industry, or for people who might be interested in its many facets. The week ends Saturday with a taste of terps and a flower competition this coming Sunday, called the NW Cannabis Classic Holiday Harvest Cup.

I was able to attend this Cup, called the NW Cannabis Classic, last year and it was a wonderfully run event with open consumption, booths, and speakers all under one roof on the same day. It did so well that the organizers decided to expand the event so that networking and programming events were a little more specific in content and more spread out. The majority of the event will take place at the Leftbank Annex from this coming Wednesday through the weekend, with the launch party being on Thursday and the competition being on Sunday.

Cy Scott is CEO and Co-founder of Headset, a cannabis business intelligence/data system for cannabis companies, from dispensaries and retailers to product manufacturers and growers. Scott has attended and partnered with Weed Week events in other cities. He said of the event, “Weed Week brings together a wide variety of industry participants to immerse themselves in some of the most critical topics for anyone operating in the cannabis industry. With so much information to cover, the week long format is an exciting and new way to approach the business of cannabis and we look forward to participating in such an informative event.”

WeedMaps is a sponsor of the upcoming Portland Weed Week event, and has helped with their events in other cities as well.  Lance Lambert, who is the director of Media Operations for WeedMaps and also a speaker at the event, said. “Our company is very active within the cannabis community, so being asked to partner was an honor. As the Media Director here, I truly value getting to participate and speak as well. Such opportunities let me interact with individuals from all aspects of the industry, and to hear current needs from this community as a whole. This is our second year of partnering with the NW Cannabis Classic. We were extremely excited to be invited back as a sponsor for what is the first year of Weed Week. To see such an event grow into so much more is a true testament to its success.”

Check out their website for more information, or to purchase tickets, for Weed Week or the Cannabis Classic.
