(OTC Markets: MDBX) (www.medboxinc.com), a leader in providing consulting services and patented systems to the medical and retail industries, announced that they have been profiled in an article in Huffington Post, stating that Medbox-type dispensing systems may become the industry norm.

“California based Medbox, Inc. is currently the industry leader,” the article stated. “For $50,000, a pot shop can buy two state-of-the-art automated dispensing machines from Medbox – as well as a customized software system that keeps track of inventory, sales and patient information. The company had sales of $1.75 million last quarter.”

While there are a few other smaller companies that are building and trying to sell marijuana vending machines that allow consumers direct access to the product, Medbox’s CEO, Bruce Bedrick is quick to point out that while the company owns the patent on that type of system, his focus is entirely different.

“Since the later part of 2011, our company has only offered machines to be used behind-the-counter and accessible by dispensary employees – similar to how most hospitals use biometric systems to monitor internal dispensing of medications,” Bedrick stated. “We are the only company that delivers a turnkey solution that is fully compliant with all regulations, transparent in its operation, and provides full accountability,” he added.

According to the Huffington Post, Bedrick is known for his industry insight and strategic acumen.

“I am not afraid of competition,” Bedrick told HuffPost. “Our company has been rather outspoken as to promoting an outright ban on self-service marijuana vending machines because social sentiment is currently intolerant of such a usage. Recently, we supported a ban on such self-service machines in San Diego and were touted by members of the City Council for our technology not being ‘a vending machine’ and instead being ‘a security device’. These other companies are trying to use our company’s notoriety to advance their own agendas.”

Medbox is also focused on adapting the technology for selling conventional medication in pharmacies. The company has announced unveiling a demonstration video by month’s end of its much anticipated “Lockbox Express” for convenient pickup of traditional medications and retail items at chain drug stores.
