As the 2016 presidential election draws closer new light is being shed on many political issues. One issue that has been getting much more attention in this year’s debates than in previous election years is the legalization of medical and recreational marijuana. According to Pew Research Center Polls, about six in 10 Democrats support marijuana legalization, with that number jumping to nearly 75 percent in millennial democrats. In 2008, no major candidate supported decriminalization during the debates. As legalization continues to move to the forefront of American politics candidates are being forced to voice an opinion.

The first major presidential candidate to speak in support of marijuana legalization is Bernie Sanders. “The time is long overdue for us to take marijuana off the federal government’s list of outlawed drugs,” he said. “In my view, states should have the right to regulate marijuana the same way that state and local laws now govern sales of alcohol and tobacco.” Bernie has recognized the importance of continuing medical marijuana research in an effort to educate the American public about cannabis’ health benefits. He has spoken in great detail about his stance on removing marijuana from the Schedule 1 drug list in order to lessen the burden on the already overwhelmed criminal justice system. He’s also identified legalization of marijuana as an incredibly strong tool in increasing tax revenue as demonstrated by Colorado’s recent legalization of marijuana.

The cannabis community believes we all deserve a president who will rally to reschedule cannabis and transform America’s Cannabis policies. In our opinion, Bernie Sanders is the best and most likely candidate to appropriately represent the needs of our community. For all these reasons Foster Buds and Farmer 12 are excited to announce they have combined efforts to raise funds and awareness for Bernie Sanders. Effective immediately Foster Buds and Farmer 12 will be running a “Burn One For Bernie” promotion. What this means is that for every Farmer 12 pre-rolled joint sold, Foster Buds and Farmer 12 will be donating 10% of each sale directly to Bernie Sanders’ Presidential Campaign. Both parties will donate individually until they both meet the legal donation limit. Also for a limited time we will be giving away a free Farmer 12 t-shirt with each joint, while supplies last. Foster Buds and Farmer 12 would like to encourage any Bernie supporters to join our effort in raising as much money possible to help Bernie become the next President of the United States. If you would like to participate in our promotion please visit Foster Buds at 5522 SE Foster Road. Portland, OR 97206 or call us at 503-444-7433.
