oregon medical marijuana business conferenceLast February, the Oregon Cannabis Industry Association‘s Marijuana Business 101 seminar was, by all accounts, a great success with a packed house of cannabis industry entrepreneurs. We managed to bring in a strong contingent of lawyers, professionals and government officials to provide valuable information for those already in the industry, or thinking about entering the burgeoning industry. It was one of my career highlights and an event that I am extremely proud of.

My friend and activist colleague, Alex Rogers of Northwest Alternative Health, who had organized the very informative Oregon Medical Marijuana Business Conference in Ashland in January, asked if I would be willing to join forces with him and help organize quality cannabis business conferences in Oregon, starting with Eugene on March 30th & 31st. With the support of OCIA’s Board of Directors, I jumped at the opportunity to help provide great information and networking opportunities for current and future industry participants.

As anyone that has helped put on such events can tell you, especially multi-day events, a ton of work is needed to deal with the seemingly infinite number of logistical details and it isn’t cheap handling the booking of facilities, food, entertainment and travel plans of speakers. However, I understand that the $299 is a lot of money for a lot of people, including myself, and I would never promote an event unless I sincerely felt that folks are getting their money’s worth.

At the OMMBC, attendees will be able to hear from, and pick the brain of experts that have extensive experience working in the cannabis industry, practicing law and helping craft effective cannabis laws and policies. Being able to hear from and ask questions of Oregon attorneys Leland Berger, Brian Michaels, Dave Kopilak and Amy Margolis is worth more than $300 alone. The same goes for hearing from Don Duncan of Americans for Safe Access and Debby Goldsberry, co-founder of Berkeley Patients Group, one of the premiere medical cannabis dispensaries in the world. And the list of great presentations continues with Troy Dayton of the ArcView Group and Arron Smith of the National Cannabis Industry Association.

And the OMMBC doesn’t just stop with great information, but there will be tremendous networking opportunities with vendors and industry participants at the conference itself, but also off-site. Conference attendees will receive passes to an exclusive mixer party at the Granary (259 E. 5th Ave) on Sunday night and Cannabis Comedy Night featuring the hilarious comedic musings of Ngaio Bealum at the W.O.W. Hall (291 W. 8th Ave) on Monday night. The networking opportunities provided may end up being just as, if not more important, than the information provided to help make your business venture a success.

Early, discounted ticket sales end this Friday, the 21st, so get your tickets now and join us at the Eugene Hilton on the 30th & 31st at the end of the month. You will not be disappointed and you will be armed and ready to take your cannabis business to the next level. If you can’t make this Eugene event, stay tuned for big announcements about more great conferences all around Oregon in the upcoming months.  Check out www.ommbc.com for more details.
