Voters in Dane County, Wisconsin have approved an advisory referendum which urges the state to legalize recreational cannabis. The referendum was approved with 64.5% of the vote.
Dane County, which has a population of roughly half a million, is the second-most populous county in Wisconsin.
A poll released last year by Marquette University Law School found that 50% of those in Wisconsin support the legalization of cannabis, with just 44% opposed.
Earlier this month a proposal to legalize cannabis was filed in the Wisconsin Legislature; 7 lawmakers in total have signed on as sponsors for the measure.
