The 2011 NORML Aspen Legal Seminar, scheduled for June 2-4, 2011 at the Gant Hotel in beautiful Aspen, CO, is just two weeks away. Details of the program and the registration information are available on the NORML website:

At this seminar we also permit interested non-lawyers to register and attend.
The legal seminar will consist of three days of lectures from leading criminal defense attorneys covering topics such as the latest important search and seizure decisions (Gerry Goldstein, San Antonio, TX); DUID: Understanding the Science (NORML Deputy Director Paul Armentano) and DUID: Trial Tactics (Okorie Okorocha, Pasadena, CA) ; jury nullification (Beth Krulewitch, Aspen, CO); sentencing mitigation in a drug case (Marc Milavitz, Boulder, CO); the religious use of marijuana as a defense (Jay Leiderman, Ventura, CA); medical marijuana and workers’ rights (Kimberlie Ryan, Denver, CO); ethical issues presented when representing medical marijuana growers and dispensaries (Lynne Williams, Bar Harbor, ME and Thomas Dean, Flagstaff, AZ); cannabis offenses and family court (Leland Berger, Portland, OR); ethical considerations of a joint defense agreement (John Wesley Hall, Little Rock, AR); the new war on pain medications (Jeralyn Merritt, Denver, CO); and breathin! g life into the presumption of innocence (Marjorie Russell, Lansing, MI).
This legal seminar is approved for CLE credit by all states that require attorneys to obtain continuing legal education credits on an ongoing basis. Those states utilizing a 60-minute hour will provide 10.25 hours of overall CLE credit, including 2 hours of ethics; those states utilizing a 50-minute hour will provide 12.4 hours of overall CLE credit, including 2.4 hours of ethics.
Those who have joined us at previous Aspen legal seminars will be pleased to know that we will once again be holding a benefit dinner on Friday evening at the lovely home of Chris and Gerry Goldstein, catered by celebrated Aspen chef Chris Lanter from Cache Cache, a popular Aspen restaurant; and we will be returning to Owl Farm, the legendary home of the late Hunter S. Thompson, on Saturday afternoon for a cookout as the guests of his widow, Anita Thompson.
