The East Coast and West Coast of the United States vary in laws and policies about cannabis as well as on opinions regarding cannabis consumption.

Across the board, more and more individuals within the United States are becoming more accepting of cannabis use. However, it is clear that both the West Coast and East Coast are divided, so to speak, in terms of the pace at which weed is legalized and how accepting each coast is of cannabis use. You would be pleasantly surprised at the differences between the two. One thing is for sure though – both coasts agree that weed is life.

When one thinks of weed, the first thing they picture is a rolled blunt, yet there is a growing popularity of marijuana users switching to using vaporizer to get high with. This is especially true with those that prefer the sweet, sticky goo known as concentrates.

How Do The Coasts Fair with Weed Legalization?

There are many people across the US who approve of weed legalization, however, only a few states have passed it into law. The states who have made the smart choice to legalize recreational and medicinal marijuana have seen the fruits of their labor with a boom in their economies due to weed sales. Both coasts have a few states where smoking weed is legal, however, the West Coast, for now, takes the lead.

On the West Coast, there are currently 6 states that have legalized marijuana – Washington, Colorado, Nevada, California, Alaska, and Oregon. Nevada law states that adults 21 years of age or older are allowed to possess up to one ounce of weed for personal use and up to 3.5 grams of concentrates. In terms of cultivation, persons are allowed to cultivate up to 6 plants (3 mature) in their residence and keep their harvest as long as they live 25 miles away or more from the nearest marijuana retailer.

On the East Coast, there are 3 states that have made weed legal – Washington D.C., Massachusetts, and Maine. Washington DC law allows for adults 21 and over to possess up to 2 ounces of marijuana for personal use and to cultivate up to 6 plants, 3 being mature, in their personal residence. A person is also allowed to use and sell drug paraphernalia related to cannabis use.

Views on Marijuana Use Along the Coasts

You would think that the coast with the most legalized states would have the most acceptance of marijuana use, right? Well, this isn’t the case – at least concerning weed use on college campuses. As it turns out, East Coast colleges are more weed-friendly than their West Coast counterparts. Even more surprising is that states that haven’t legalized weed yet have ranked high in terms of acceptance of marijuana use.

According to a study done by the Princeton Review, titled Reefer Madness, the first four spots belong to colleges located in Vermont, New York, and Florida. While California and Colorado have snagged a few spots in this study, an abundance of the colleges here are on the East Coast. Therefore, it is safe to say that if you are a student who smokes weed on the East Coast, you will have a better time with it.

Country-Wide Survey of Weed Use in Public

Who doesn’t enjoy a nice, relaxing weed sesh? Well, both coasts seem to be in agreement with this statement, despite their slight differences. While the general consensus tells you that many roll up and smoke their weed, many are switching to vaporizers to get a “cleaner” high.

While many states have legalized pot, it still isn’t allowed out in the open so you’ll need something discreet to get you through the day.

Using a vape pen allows for use with concentrates which are more potent than dry herb because they are made with the parts of the flower that have the most THC in them. This allows for a strong, clean high that lets you soak in those calming, pain-relieving effects. Vape pens are also discreet and convenient with their portable sizes and shapes. Lastly, you can’t go wrong with a device that not only tastes great but looks great as well.

Final Thoughts

Both coasts are divided by the laws that govern them, regarding weed legalization, and their acceptance of weed use. However, both can come together on the singular idea that weed is life and it is d**n good. It can be hard to use in public since it is still widely illegal but vaping is definitely an alternative to this problem.
